Appellation: Rattlesnake Hills
The 2011 Vintage: Very cool and wet Spring and mild Summer complicated ripening in 2011, and clusters often ripened unevenly. A most difficult vintage to overcome with late picking and craftsman winemaking yielded higher-acid wines than usual but with attractive fruit.
The Wine: Pale straw color with bright highlights / fragrant nose with peach notes and lively kiwi/lime scents. Mild grapefruit flavor initially with tasty Pinot Gris lychee and nutmeg flavors / medium-bodied with off-dry finish and lovely fruit.
Food Matches: Classic match for Beef and Chicken dishes, especially those with rich preparations and/or saucing. Wonderful with soft cheeses as well.
Descriptors: Lovely Pinot Gris food-friendly complement seafood and chicken entrée. Great as an aperitif to wake up the palate!
